Here is 12 year chart of the past 12 KVC audits as requested at the last KVC public audit meeting held in Kitamaat on March 10, 2009.
The chart identifies that the KVC finances were in a consistent deficit position until the audit year of 2003. Since the 2001 - 2003 election term KVC has worked diligently at addressing the use of sound financial management practices.
Ample evidence of its success is there are no longer any outstanding accounts payable that can be classified as being in "arrears" as was the case in 2001 and the last six audits have all been surplus audits.
The expectation is this trend will continue with the continued use of financial best practices and sound financial management strategies.
It has been a long time since the auditors have been required to do such things as bookkeeping or journal entries which demonstrates the KVC finance staff are doing what they are supposed to be doing.
