Haisla Nation Council has an immediate opening for a:
Health Manager
Duties:
- To develop programs and budgets to achieve 100% commitment and expenditure funding;
- Plan and control health department budget with monthly reporting;
- To prepare proposals to Health Canada, Northern Health Authority for additional programs;
- To ensure current resources meet the program requirements;
- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the delivery of health care services;
- Develop and implement plans for new programs, special projects, new material and equipment acquisitions;
- To provide leadership and development support for all departments;
- Represent the department or establishment at meetings with government officials, the public, the media and other organizations;
- To participate and support the Haisla Nation Management Team and the Council;
- To review current job descriptions, make adjustments where necessary and develop performance development plans for each staff member;
- To follow the HNC personnel policy and manual;
- Other related duties as required by the Chief Operation Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Administration, Public Health or related field, preferred;
- 5 years experience in a leadership role;
- Knowledge of CFCSA and child welfare issues of Aboriginal families;
- Adept with Word, Excel, Outlook and internet;
- Display sound leadership and supervisory skills within a variety of staffing areas;
- Ability to work independently and be self motivated;
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
- Preferred experience in program development and successful proposal writing;
- Strong conflict resolution skills for employers;
- Knowledge of Haisla culture an asset;
- Must possess a valid BC Drivers license;
- Must be willing and able to pass a criminal record check.

Education Manager
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer of Haisla Nation Council
Duties:
- Administer the Education Program;
- Local Education Agreement
- Postsecondary Program
- Cimo’ca Daycare Program
- Haisla Community School
- Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Capacity Development Initiatives for membership
- Direct supervision of employee (s) within the department;
- Prepare and maintain budgets;
- Raise additional Program funds through proposal writing;
- Ensure computers and programs are up to date;
- Maintain correspondence and filing system;
- To follow the HNC personnel policy and manual;
- To abide by all other relevant Policies, Procedures and Bylaws of HNC
- Prepare activity reports for the Chief Operating Officer as requested
- Other related duties as required by the Chief Operating Officer or designate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education preferred;
- Direct experience working with First Nations organization preferred;
- Organizational and office management skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to work in a busy environment and maintain confidentiality;
- Direct experience in negotiating with government, industry and other First Nations in advancing the interests mandated by HNC preferred;
- BC Drivers license and own vehicle is an asset;
- Willing to provide a criminal record check;
